Tuesday night was an emotional one in Las Vegas as the Golden Knights played their first ever home game in franchise history and honoured first responders and victims from the Vegas shooting before the game.

The players then went out and dominated from the opening period on as they scored four goals in the first period and won the game 5-2.

The win was historic as the Golden Knights became the first expansion team in NHL history to start their inaugural season 3-0, but the night was so much bigger than records and the sport of hockey, and that became even more clear after the game when the Golden Knights saluted the fans and the Coyotes did so, too.

All class by the Coyotes, and at the end of the day, the result of this game never mattered because the game was always about continuing the healing process first and foremost.
There are certain things a lot bigger than sports and Tuesday night, we were reminded of that fact in a truly heartwarming way.
