Ah, 2019. Things were so simple then.

We’d never heard the word COVID before, things were normal, and all of our favourite NHL teams were adopting puppies. Remember that era?! We miss it!

While we’d definitely never choose favourites when it comes to puppies, we admit that the Capitals’ dog, Captain, is pretty had to parallel when it comes to cuteness.

As soon as the Capitals introduced him to the world, everyone fell in love with him.

Cuteness. Overload.

At the time, Captain was only 10 weeks old. His life’s purpose from the get-go was to be trained as a service dog in partnership with America's VetDogs, which provides service dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities. Over the last year and a half, Captain was trained by members of the organization and made awesome memories with the Capitals’ staff, players and fans.

Now, his training is done, and Captain has a new life partner!

Captain will live out the rest of his days helping retired U.S. Marine Corps Master Sgt. Mark and his family, and this partnership is so sweet.

We love to see happy endings like this. Congratulations to this duo!
