Through all the off-season and training camp drama, Jimmy Butler was still wearing a T’Wolves jersey by the time the team tipped off to play their home opener on Friday night.

The 29-year-old demanded a trade this past summer and even made a scene at practice last week where he reportedly called out teammates and coaches after ending his hold-out.

Fans inside the Target Center let their voices be heard as the 29-year-old was introduced to the Minnesota faithful.

During Butler’s 33-point performance in the T’Wolves 131-123 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers, some fans even chanted out “MVP” after he started to drain buckets like Jimmy does, changing their tune from when he was first introduced prior to tip-off.

Butler wasn’t the only person on the court to hear it from the Minnesotans in attendance. Tom Thibodeau, the head coach and team president of the club, was also the target of many jeers, along with former Timberwolves player Kevin Love, who was granted a trade out of organization much like Butler’s wishes.

"Boo me," Butler said to reporters following the win. "It ain't going to change the way I play; probably going to make me smile more. Please, come on with it."

Based on his performance, the boos might’ve just fired him up.
