Steve Smith Sr. wasn’t even supposed to play in the NFL this season, but after finishing last season on the Injured Reserve list, both fans and Smith Sr. knew he wasn’t going to finish his career that way. At the age of 37, Smith started 14 games for the Ravens this season and finished with 70 receptions for 799 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Los Angeles, California native could probably play another season if he wanted to, but decided this year would be his last. On Friday, Smith Sr. shared his official retirement letter that he sent to the NFL on his Twitter account.

It’s too bad we won’t get to see the five-time Pro Bowler take the field anymore, but we understand why he would want to call it quits after an impressive 15-year career.
