The Toronto Blue Jays took a step backwards this season after finishing with 83 or more wins the past three seasons.

After opening a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday night with an 11-8 victory, the two ball clubs put on a defensive display on Friday night  as they needed 13 innings to settle a game that ended 1-0 for the O’s.

In the bottom of the 8th inning, Orioles second baseman Jonathan Schoop hit a pop fly into foul territory and just as it looked like it was going to sail out of bounds and into the crowd, Jays first baseman and former Baltimore Oriole Steve Pearce decided to follow the ball into the stands to make a fantastic grab for the out.

It was a big out for the Blue Jays, but unfortunately they could not get anything done with their bats and were blanked by the Orioles in extra innings.
