It’s a special year for the Philadelphia Flyers as the franchise is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Since it’s a big year for the team, they’re doing whatever they can to make the season as memorable as possible, which included new jerseys at the beginning of the season.
They’re also hosting Heritage Nights this season, which give fans a chance to meet and greet former Philadelphia Flyers captains and playoff heroes. Players have also found some ways of their own to celebrate the anniversary, including goalie Steve Mason who will debut a new mask on Saturday when the Flyers host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The mask includes a little bit of everything and is an awesome tribute to the history of the franchise, especially the Broad Street Bullies. Here are some other looks at the masterpiece from all angles.
The mask was done by Franny Drummond of Paintzoo and we’re guessing it’s going to be a big hit amongst Flyers fans when he debuts it on the weekend.
