The 2017 IIHF World Championship got underway on Friday and it’s been pretty eventful so far.
On Saturday night, Slovenia and Switzerland went head-to-head and they produced the most shocking highlight of the tournament through the first few days. However, it’s not one to be proud of.
As Slovenia’s Robert Sabolic and Switzerland’s Thomas Rüfenacht were battling it out against the boards, Rüfenacht’s elbow catches Slovenia forward Ziga Jeglic as he’s making his way to the bench for the line change. Unhappy with the little bump, Jeglic does something uncalled for.
The fact that the Jeglic is only getting a two game suspension for this kick is absolutely ridiculous.
Jeglic now joins Happy Gilmore on the short list of people who have tried to stab someone with their skate.
