Saturday, the Toronto Maple Leafs managed to clinch a playoff spot, reaching the 95 point mark just one season after finishing with 69 points.
The Leafs have been led by an exciting core of young players all year long, but there is still one area where they will really have to prove themselves. In the playoff beard department. Sunday, Leafs president Brendan Shanahan was asked whether or not players will be allowed to don playoff beards. Shanahan decided to have some fun with his response, issuing a challenge of sorts to the team's younger players.
After losing to the Blue Jackets in regulation on Sunday the Leafs sealed their ticket to Washington, where they will face the Capitals in round one of the playoffs on Thursday night.
That's a pretty quick turnaround to grow a beard, but if the Leafs young core has proven anything this season, it's that anything is possible.
