Earlier this year, we wrote a story about the Senators’ president considering a logo change for the upcoming season – largely due to an overwhelming push from the fans.
The loyal Ottawa fans have been stating their desire for the team to switch their primary logo away from the cartoon senator and full-time to the “O” that they have used on alternate and winter classic jerseys. Much of that hope was put to rest when the Adidas jersey reveal came out, because the Sens were still wearing their old logos.
Include that there will be no alternate jerseys and it really seemed like all of their awesome concept jersey designs had gone to waste.
However, some fans have noticed a couple of different designs that suggest that even if it’s not this season, a team re-brand may be coming in the near future.
On the team’s website and it appears on their ice this season, they have been pushing the “O” logo that fans are so desperate to bring back. There is no hope of it as an alternate this season because there will be no alternates in the 2017-18 season, so the only way this would actually end up on the front of a jersey this season would be if the initial reveal was a hoax (Which seems unlikely).
Still, fans are getting excited at the potential of a future change with these hints at a shift in branding.
We’re not sure if this would be any indication, but if they wanted to keep branding consistent throughout their organization, the new Belleville AHL squad has announced their first ever logo, and it is in the style of the classic “O” jersey.
