It took all of one day of pitchers and catchers reporting to Spring Training before we got our first weird injury of the MLB season.

Tuesday, it was reported that Kansas City Royals pitcher Brian Flynn would be on the shelf for at least eight weeks as he recovers from a broken rib and three non-displaced fractures in his vertebrae. What caused the injury you ask? It wasn't anything baseball related. No, Flynn fell through the roof of his barn in Oklahoma. Ouch! Here's how it all went down (pardon the pun) according to Royals manager, Ned Yost.

“He was working on his barn and fell through the roof,” Yost said. “So he took a pretty good tumble, knocked himself out. So he’s going to be about eight weeks behind everybody else.” - Via the Kansas City Star

Hardly your typical baseball injury, but incredibly concerning nonetheless. Expect major league ball players to avoid getting onto the roof of a bar for at least the next few months.
