The New York Islanders didn’t get off to the hottest start this season, but they’ve been able to turn things around as of late. Part of the reason for their recent success has been the play of goalie Thomas Greiss, who posted back-to-back shutouts last week.
The team entered Thursday night’s game against the Montreal Canadiens winners of three of their last four and looked to keep things rolling. Once again, Greiss came up with a huge performance, stopping 21 of 22 shots for his 14th victory of the season. After the game, former Islanders goalie and now ESPN talk show host Rick DiPietro showed some love for Greiss in a fantastic way.
The shirt he was rocking is created and sold by NewYorkBootleg.com, and have they have become a big hit amongst the fans.
DiPietro will always be remembered by Islanders fans for the massive contract he received, but he’s quickly becoming one of their favourite analysts. We love that he made the reference to Bob Barker in Happy Gilmore in the segment, and there’s no better way to put an exclamation point on your statement than by ripping open your suit on-air.
