This year’s MLB season has provided fans with plenty of triple plays and now there’s another one we can add to the list.
On Tuesday night, the Boston Red Sox became the latest team to turn a triple play this season and it was a pretty big one for the franchise.
With runners on first and second for St. Louis, Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina hit a grounder to third baseman Rafael Devers, who started off what ended up being a pretty typical 5-4-3 triple play.
However, this wasn’t an ordinary triple play, it was the first triple play turned by the Red Sox in six years.
The last time the Red Sox turned a triple play came back on August 16, 2011, when they managed to pull one off against Tampa Bay.
