Spring Training is the perfect time for prospects to really make a name for themselves before the Opening Day rosters are revealed.
19-year-old Boston Red Sox pitcher Roniel Raudes is currently ranked as the team’s No. 6 prospect. While he’s not projected to be anything more than a No. 4 or No. 5 starter in the rotation, Raudes has one of the most unusual, yet interesting wind-ups you will ever see.
We’re not exactly sure why he does this little shimmy as he winds up, but apparently he does it before every pitch. Perhaps he does it to throw off the batter with their timing, but guys like Jonathan Villar, Billy Hamilton and Dee Gordon will probably have a field day with him when it comes to stealing bases.
This is definitely one of the strangest wind-ups we have ever seen, but it doesn’t top Hideo Nomo’s slow-paced tornado wind-up.
