You can always expect to see at least one little league home run per season in Major League Baseball, but the Tampa Bay Rays have already allowed three this season.

On Thursday night, the Rays closed out their four-game series against the Kansas City Royals at home and it did not go well at all.

With the Rays trailing 4-0 in the top of the 8th inning, it went from bad to worse as the Royals scored two more runs thanks to a little league home run from Whit Merrifield.

Is this little-league homer #SCtop10 or #SCNotTop10?

What should have been a routine single turned into a home run for the 28-year-old and it ended up putting the game out of reach for the Rays.

As if it wasn’t bad enough to allow a little league home run, that’s not the only one the Rays have allowed this week. During the first game against the Royals on Monday, Lorenzo Cain hit a little league home run of his own due to another error by Kevin Kiermaier.

The first little league home run they allowed this season came back in April against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Rays have lost five of their last eight games and own a 17-20 record heading into Friday’s action. No wonder Gary's been letting them hear it on Twitter.
