Fans in attendance for the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears game at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday probably didn’t have high expectations on seeing anything exciting happen during the season finale, but anything can happen at a sporting event, even things that don’t involve the players in the game.
During the second quarter, two protesters at the game unrolled a massive banner from high above from the field which read “U.S. Bank Divest #NoDAPL”, which is a reference to the Dakota Access Pipeline.
That’s not all they did, though. The two protesters remained there during the game, just dangling hundreds of feet in the air above other fans.
We’re guessing the higher and higher they got up there they started to realize there wasn’t much they could do once they got to the top considering the protesters were just dangling from a rope and one wrong move could put their lives and other spectators’ lives in danger. That or they’re just terrified of heights and happened to look down at the wrong time on their way up.
Security did the next best thing and cleared out the fans that were sitting underneath the banner.
The stadium management did end up releasing a statement to fill everyone in on what was happening and how they even managed to get up there in the first place.
We understand that people are passionate about the things they believe in, but this was a pretty bonehead move on their part. All it took was for one thing to go wrong and that would be the end of them. However, these guys definitely have some serious guts for pulling this off.
