David Poile is nominated for the GM of the Year award in the NHL, and he is probably the favourite to win it.
In fact, he’s probably done such a good job in the last year that he could have some extra down time over the next couple of seasons, with most of the team’s core pieces already being locked in to the team. Maybe in that down time, he could play some X-Man. You know the famous video game console, the X-Man.
That’s obviously not what the gaming system is called, something that Poile was made aware of when that’s what he called it.
This is such a hilarious exchange, and it’s only made better by the fact that Poile clearly has a sense of humour about the whole thing. He apparently caught up with Alex Prewitt later about the moment, and made him tell the story to someone else.
Just give this man GM of the year. This has no relation to that, but there’s no other trophy we can give him that he would value, so let’s just give him that.
Like we said above, he will probably be the favourite for GM of the year, as his acquisition of P.K. Subban was the biggest move of the offseason and has clearly paid off. So, go enjoy some X-Man David Poile.
