The Legend of the Octopus is one of the oldest traditions in sports.
The Detroit Red Wings tradition dates back over 60 years, when the team needed to win a total of eight games over two series to win the Stanley Cup. The eight legs on the octopus symbolize the eight wins needed to become league champs.
Nashville Predators fans have been known to do something somewhat similar, tossing giant catfish on the ice, but a fan took things to an entirely new extreme on Tuesday night.
It appears the fan threw a skinned duck onto the ice during a break in play.

While we liken this to the Detroit Red Wings tradition, it does feel a little too much for our liking. Just go to the game and enjoy the hockey, people! There's no need to throw anything on the ice.
