There's no I in team, but sometimes when a single player takes over, it can certainly seem like they're the only person on the field.
Thursday, the Oakland Athletics recorded an ultra rare 1U. For those unfamiliar with the scorecard term, a 1U is an unassisted double play by a pitcher. During the bottom of the fifth inning of a game between the Athletics and the Los Angeles Angels, Oakland's starter Kendall Graveman caught a comebacker on the mound, and from there, things got a little frantic.
Two outs, no help needed. How rare of a play was it? An A's pitcher hasn't recorded a U1 since 1971.
