Things didn’t exactly go as planned for Pablo Sandoval after he signed a massive five-year, $90 million contract with the Boston Red Sox back in November of 2014. In his first season with the Red Sox, Sandoval hit 10 home runs and drove in 47 runs, his lowest total in both categories since he first entered the league in 2008. His batting average dropped by more than 30 points and was riding the bench in no time.

While his production continued to drop throughout the year and into his second season with the Red Sox, Sandoval gained a lot of weight, which made him unfit to perform at the highest level. However, it looks like the old Pablo Sandoval could be returning to the lineup, the one everyone referred to as Kung Fu Panda.

Sandoval is currently spending his offseason working out with the 2012 AL Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera and the two are putting in work in many different ways, including boxing. Here’s a closer look at the new and improved Pablo Sandoval.

If you forgot just how bad things got for Sandoval, here’s a shot of him from last season.
