Friday evening got pretty insane in the NBA. Blake Griffin signed a new five-year deal with the Clippers, Steph Curry signed a super-max deal worth $201 million over five years, oh, and Paul George got traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The East lost a superstar, and the West got even stronger. While most of the focus is obviously on how the Thunder will build around George and Russell Westbrook for next season, a lot of people are wondering how the Pacers got so little in return for a 4-time All-Star. Plenty of great reaction to the fleece job were shared when the trade was announced, but the best tweet had to be one from the Oklahoma City Police Department account.
Come on now, that's just cold. And hilarious. The Indianapolis Police Department issued a response of their own, tagging along for the joke with some friendly banter.
It's easy to criticize the Pacers for only getting Victor Oladipo abd Domantas Sabonis in return for George, but the reality of the situation is that it's quite difficult to trade an asset for proper value when everyone knows that asset wants out, and won't sign with whoever trade for his 1-year deal.
Still, our hats are off to the OKC PD for the joke of the night (outside of the trade itself).
