If you thought that Odell Beckham Jr. was playing up an injury when the broadcast showed him bouncing around on the sideline, think again.
The man they call OBJ has had a tough start to the season. He suffered an ankle sprain during the preseason that sidelined him until week two of the regular season, and even then he was only playing on a limited basis. When a second quarter pass went through his hands and left the star wideout jumping and running to the sideline in pain, Giants fans and fantasy owners alike held their breath.
Fortunately, OBJ would return to the field and continue to produce, ending the game with seven receptions for 90 yards - a modest total for what Beckham is capable of. Today, head coach Ben McAdoo told the media that OBJ's finger was "sore". He also added that Beckham was currently fighting through a lot of things.
On Monday, Beckham took to Instagram to show just how bad the finger injury was.
The gruesome photo created a shockwave from the Internet. People's reactions ranged everywhere from disgust to admiration.
With the Giants down 0-4 to begin the season, they can't afford to have their star receiver miss anytime. The reality of the situation is that these things happen in football, you can't go around pointing the finger at anyone in particular (pun intended). Luckily for the Giants Beckham has never really needed all 10 of his fingers to catch footballs.
