We’ve all been there. October 31st slowly creeps up on you and you don’t even have a Halloween costume on the big day. You don’t even want to celebrate, but all your friends are peer pressuing you to come party.
You check out your room to see what makeshift costume you could throw together, but are unsuccessful. You go check out your father’s closet to see if he has anything vintage or retro that looks cool. Nadda.
As the sun sets, the darkness starts to take over. You haven’t even bought Halloween candy to hand out before you leave, or the beer you’ll be drinking later tonight. Desperation mode has now been activated. In a last ditch effort, you browse over your jersey collection and decide you’re just going to go as one of your favourite sports stars.
Boom, a wild Buffalo Bills jersey appears with the name “Simpson” on the back.
This was the reality for former Bills running back O.J. Simpson, who went as himself in what was his first Halloween since 2008.
Simpson was seen answering the door of his Las Vegas home with the No. 32 on his back. He was released on parole at the start of October. The former Heisman winner served nine years in jail following an armed robbery and kidnapping.
The costume selection is somewhat lazy and boring. I mean, he did wear that uniform for eight years in Buffalo. And it begs the question if Simpson was wearing the jersey as a costume, or did he feel a little nostalgic and wanted to feel like a football player again?
