Leading up to the Winter Classic in St. Louis this morning, much of the talk was about the ice condition. However, when asked about it, Niklas Hjalmarsson down played the issue while throwing another team’s arena under the bus.
The Blackhawks faced off against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday, at PNC Arena in Raleigh and Hjalmarsson says that the ice conditions there were worse than what the teams played on today.
When you get candid moments of NHLers, most agree that there are significant changes in ice quality from arena to arena; it just doesn’t come up as much until the rink is built outdoors. Of course, that’s not how everyone felt about the ice at Busch Stadium. When asked a similar question, Corey Crawford had a totally different response.
