While golf is the most commonly discussed past time of NHL players in the offseason, fishing is definitely a close second in its popularity among the athletes.
They proved that yesterday at Andrew Ladd’s Ladd Foundation Sturgeon Chairty Tournament with some of the fish they were hauling in. Considering the name and who organized the tournament, it’s only fitting that Andrew Ladd (And his team) came away with the biggest haul among the pros in attendance. This thing, in Ladd’s own words, is dino-like.
With that said, there were still plenty of other NHLers reeling in some decent hooks at the tourney. Tyler Myers is clearly having the most fun out of anyone.
The Ladd Foundation’s event helps raise money for the Rick Hansen Foundation and the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society. The event is still going on today, and with other players such as Nick Leddy, Duncan Keith and Zach Bogosian in attendance, there could still be a couple more hauls today.
