If a picture says 1000 words, how many does an emoji say?
Stars in the NBA have gotten rather good at solely communicating on Twitter via emojis, and on Saturday a few took it to the extreme, engaging in a full scale emoji chirp off. It all started with Utah Jazz centre Rudy Gobert seemingly signalling to his teammate Gordon Hayward to pass on advances by both the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.
Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas came across the tweet and couldn't help but remind Gobert that while the Jazz franchise has 0 NBA titles, Miami has 3 and Boston has 17.
Heat star Hassan Whiteside decided to add in his two cents as well, officially putting an end to Gobert's snarky remark with an emoji filled tweet of his own, illustrating Miami and Boston's recent success.
Neither I.T. or Whiteside actually won any of the championships that they referenced, but perhaps they were simply pointing to their respective franchises' winning cultures.
