The Leafs’ young forwards have been lighting up the IIHF World Championships.
In his past two games, Swedish forward William Nylander has scored some brilliant goals, one of which came off of a sweet feed from Washington Capitals centre Nicklas Backstrom. Today, it was Marner’s turn to make headlines.
During Canada’s round robin contest against Finland, the Ontario native pulled off a ridiculous toe-drag around defenceman Atte Ohtamaa to put the Canucks ahead 1-0.
Marner went on to add another goal and assist, giving him three points alone in the first period. He now has four goals and six assists in the tournament.
The two Leafs rookies have now combined for 20 points in just 14 total games, which is a very promising sign for Toronto fans with high hopes for the 2017-2018 NHL season.
