The Toronto Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals went to overtime for the fourth time in five games on Friday night and it was the Caps who came out on top this time around.
Since just about everyone expected the Maple Leafs to get steamrolled by the best team in hockey in this opening series, the Leafs have already accomplished a lot by taking two of the first five games and pushing the series to Game 6.
It turns out the Leafs are a lot more confident now after their strong showing early on in the playoffs and their ability to keep up with the Capitals on a nightly basis. They’re so confident that head coach Mike Babcock had a special message for every Verizon Center employee following Friday night’s loss.
“See you in a couple days” – Mike Babcock
It’s short, but to the point.
Game 6 goes Sunday night at the Air Canada Centre.
