Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock made it loud and clear on Monday morning that the season was far from over. It wasn’t a trade or a personnel change, instead it was the introduction of a brand new team motto.

The team’s former motto was ‘Heart and Drive Lives Here’, but that was no longer painted on the wall of the MasterCard Centre on Monday morning. Instead, players arrived to the words ‘Play Fast. Play Right.’ painted above their lockers.

Here’s what Babcock had to say about the latest change.

He wasn’t done there, though. The Maple Leafs head coach also had this to say.

“It’s like anything – we’re all in this together. When we play well, all get the credit. When we play poorly, we all get the blame. Sometimes when things are going good, you think you’re better than you are. Sometimes when things are going bad, you think you’re worse than you are. It’s probably somewhere in between.”

Obviously you can’t expect a team motto change to turn everything around, but it’s another stepping stone for this young team as they look to bounce back down the stretch and try to clinch a playoff berth for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
