Everyone knows Mike Babcock the coach who won a Stanley Cup with the Red Wings, led Team Canada to gold at the Olympics and has turned around the Toronto Maple Leafs, but what about Mike Babcock the player?
Well, back in the 1980s, Babcock played all over Canada, starting in Saskatoon for the Blades during the 1980-81 season.
He then played for the University of Saskatchewan and the Kelowna Wings over the next two seasons before lacing up his skates for McGill University from 1983-1987.
In his time at McGill, Babcock, a defenseman, recorded 52 points over four seasons. He also had some legendary flow while playing, as evidenced by this wonderful picture.
If only Babcock had kept that hair for his coaching career. Boy, would've that been something.
Alas, all good things come to and end eventually, but at lest we have the evidence of this legendary hair.
Babcock isn't the only coach we went back in time and found a little more about Tuesday, though.
This picture of a young John Tortorella made the rounds, and it's pretty epic.
