Sports franchises and their players are always finding different ways to get out into the community during the season to give back to the fans.
Once the offseason rolls around, most players end up returning home, but some stay put a little longer than others.
On Thursday afternoon, Calgary Flames forward Mikael Backlund and the Calgary Flames Foundation teamed up with Harold Panabaker School to support their “Shave Your Lid For A Kid” event.
Backlund, along with his girlfriend Frida and the Calgary Flames Foundation representatives, showed up to the elementary school where they shaved students and teachers’ heads in support of the Kids Cancer Care Foundation.
The Flames forward made the day even sweeter for those who participated in the event as he hooked up every participant with a signed Flames Backlund T-shirt and a thank-you card.
It’s always great to see players give back to the community, especially when they do it on their spare time.
