It appears that the Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather bout is a lot closer to happening than we think.
Following Game 1 between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, UFC president Dana White announced on NBA on TNT that he had reached an agreement with McGregor’s side and is now working on a deal with Mayweather’s side.
If you think White is just adding to the hype surrounding to the on-going rumours that two of the greatest fighters in the world are going to go toe-to-toe, he’s not. It turns out McGregor is ready to go and proved it by officially applying for a Nevada boxing license.
According to MMAJunkie’s Steven Marrocco, Nevada Athletic Commission (NSAC) executive director Bob Bennett said he wouldn’t turn down the fight and thinks the two would be able to put on a good show.
As for the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion, he found a different way to make his announcement that he was one step closer to a fight with Mayweather.
"Let's go get some boxing ones now son"
If this fight goes down, it’s going to be one of the biggest fights in the history of the sport.
