There was a ton of hype surrounding Connor McDavid ahead of the 2015 draft, and not even two years into his career, he's proven that they hype was and is still real.
McDavid has proven that he is a generational talent. The 20-year-old has a rare combination of speed and skill that makes him ridiculously difficult to stop or even slow down.
He's one of those players that makes everybody around him better, and in his first season wearing the "C" for the Oilers, he's proven that he has great leadership, too.
What we find most impressive about McDavid's game, though, is his speed and skating ability. The guy can flat out fly, and we'd even venture to say he's the fastest player in the NHL right now.
Sunday, McDavid had a chance to prove us correct at the Oilers' Skills Competition, and he impressed to say the least.
Watching McDavid skate up close like that just makes you appreciate how fast he is that much more.
Because it was at the Oilers' Skills Competition, his time of 13.382 is unofficially better than Mike Gartner's time of 13.386.
It wasn't faster than Dylan Larkin's time of 13.172 seconds at the All-Star game last season, which is now the record, but McDavid will surely have another opportunity to top Larkin this year at the All-Star game in Los Angeles as he's captaining the Pacific Division's team.
