Over the past couple years, the Biosteel Cup has become the premiere summer tournament to see elite NHL talent in the offseason.

We spent the week down at St. Michael’s Collegiate School, the HQ for Biosteel #CAMP every year. For the first three days, it was basically a showcase of skill from some of the most skilled players in the world. At any moment, you can take a walk around the rink and see a drill taking place that showcases why these guys are the best on the planet.

By far the most visually impressive part as an observer is the stick handling. These guys are on another level. In even the simplest drills, you’ll notice them messing around with things that don’t seem possible at lower levels.

After the first three days of training – on and off the ice – so starts the Biosteel Cup Tournament.

The teams were all picked last week and as predicted in our posts, Team Seguin was at an advantage and Simmonds at a disadvantage after some brilliant managerial work. The final game came down to a matchup between Team Nurse ft. Josh Ho-Sang and Connor McDavid vs. Team Seguin who featured Jason Demers, Mitchell Stephens, Tom Wilson and Brett Connolly.

With the amount of skill in the game there was bound to be some ridiculous highlights and Connor McDavid delivered with a ridiculous move to get around Jason Demers.

Ultimately, Demers got the last laugh though (As he so kindly pointed out on that Instagram post), as he and Team Seguin ended up repeating as Biosteel Champions and taking home the trophy.  Not to mention, Seguin had a pretty nasty goal of his own. Ultimately though, it was youngster Mitchell Stephens who Seguin considered the MVP of their tournament as he put home a hat trick in the final game. You can watch highlights of the tournament by clicking to the right on the post above, or check out Biosteel’s highlights as well.

There’s no doubt these guys are ready for hockey season – Is it October yet?
