The moment Matt Murray got all choked about Marc-Andre Fleury during a post-Stanley Cup victory interview was the moment we knew there was something very special about the former Pittsburgh Penguins’ teammates relationship. As teammates, the two must have spent a lot of time together, and we’re sure Fleury taught Murray a lot about playing between the pipes for a big league team.
Of course, Fleury is now a Vegas Golden Knights, but that doesn’t change anything when it comes to the friendship between Murray and Fleury.
The NHL recently posted a quote from Murray about how he will never truly fill Fleury’s shoes in Pittsburgh, and we felt our readers needed to see it. There’s just something about their friendship that feels incredibly genuine.
We can’t wait for these two to line up at opposite ends of the ice against each other, and it appears Fleury can’t wait either…
