One of the biggest talking points surrounding the Pittsburgh Penguins all season long was about the guys between the pipes.
Last season, Matt Murray backstopped the Pens to a Stanley Cup win. During the 2016-17 regular season, he and Marc-Andre Fleury essentially split time, but Fleury took over in the playoffs after Murray got hurt before the first game.
Thanks to Fleury, the Penguins made it to the Eastern Conference final, but after a bad outing against Ottawa, Mike Sullivan went back to Murray and he delivered as helped his team get past Ottawa and win another Cup.
Unlike during last year's playoff run, the Penguins need both goalies to win the Cup and both were brilliant over the course of the season.
Once the final buzzer sounded Sunday night the celebration was an emotional one for Fleury for many reasons.
The 32-year-old believes he can be a starter in the NHL and will likely be in a new uniform next season, whether it be in Vegas or somewhere else.
Regardless, although the situation wasn't ideal for him this season, Fleury was an incredible teammate and mentor to Murray, and the 23-year-old had to fight back tears talking about what Fleury meant to him after the win.
Both goalies won't forget winning two Cups together and the special moment they shared after the win when Fleury handed the trophy to Murray.
There might not be a better teammate in hockey than Fleury, and whether he stays with the Pens or moves on, we imagine Pittsburgh fans will still cheer him on.
