If you’ve been following the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, you know that rookie forward Mitch Marner is quite the character. During tonight’s game against the New York Rangers, he and enforcer Matt Martin showed off their new celebratory handshake.
Despite their difference in age (Martin, 27, Marner, 19,), the two have quickly become close friends and recently vacationed together during the team’s bye stretch.
Of the two, Marner has certainly emerged as the bigger jokester, and is earning that reputation throughout the league. He and rookie teammate Auston Matthews have exchanged shots throughout the entire season. More often than not, Marner has been the victim.
Marner is slowly turning into one of the most beloved players in the league, and his friendship with Martin, and friendly feud with Matthews is something to follow over the coming years.
