It all came down to Mitch Marner's shootout attempt on Sunday in the Gold Medal game at the World Hockey Championship.

Sunday, Canada and Sweden played to a 1-1 tie in regulation, sending the two teams to overtime. Once OT failed to resolve anything, Canada and Sweden moved on to the dreaded shootout. Three consecutive misses by Canada meant that it was all up to Mitch Marner to keep the shootout going.

Alas, it was not meant to be, with Henrik Lundqvist shutting the door on Marner to halt Canada's bid at a third straight Gold Medal at the WHC. Following the result, Marner spoke with TSN's Darren Dreger, discussing what it felt like in the moment going into the final shot, stating that "it sucks for sure."

Canada may have come up just short in the end, but it's great to see just how passionate players like Marner are about both representing their country, and taking home the gold.

With a player who has a future as bright as Marner, you just know he's going to get his opportunity to win Gold with Canada at the senior level at some point in his career.
