Thursday night, Marcus Stroman surprised the baseball world against the Braves by hitting an opposite field home run.
Stroman also was masterful on the mound, but the home run was the highlight of his night in Toronto's win.
Whenever a pitcher hits a home run, some kind of crazy stat always follows, and the crazy stat that surfaced after Stroman's bomb was that he hit his first homer of the season before these three All-Stars.
Alex Gordon, a three-time All-Star, and Adrian Gonzalez, a five-time All-Star, were both All-Stars in 2015 but missed out in 2016.
Xander Bogaerts, on the other hand, was named an All-Star in 2016. Of the three players, Bogaerts has the best average, but Gonzalez and Gordon are off to slower starts.
That being said, Gordon and Gonzalez have hit 10 or more home runs in all but two seasons in their careers.
Furthermore, the three players have zero home runs in 368 at bats this season (entering play Friday night), while Stroman has one in four at bats.
Luck? Sure, but still interesting when you crunch the numbers.
