Looking at the box score or bracket of last night’s results, Gonzaga taking down West Virginia doesn’t at all seem odd. However, it was one of the weirdest ends to a game all tournament.
There were great finishes in other games as well, with Xavier upsetting Arizona. West Virginia had the ball with just over 25 seconds remaining and they managed to turn it into three terrible possessions. All three ended in one of their players jacking up a deep, contended three that show you how foolish Steph Curry would look at times if he wasn’t the greatest shooter ever.
Of course, the undefeated internet is a ruthless place, so of course, following this play was a flood of memes and jokes.
The final play isn’t an easy one to draw up, but there had to have been something better than that. The worst part was that they got the offensive rebound two separate times and basically settled for the same (or worse) shot each time.
Not the best way to go out of the tournament, but a loss is a loss in the end.
