Winnipeg has seen a lot of professional hockey come its way lately.

Within the last seven years, the city’s beloved Jets made their long awaited return, and last year, their AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose made its return from St. Johns, as well. When Owners David Thompson and Mark Chipman purchased the Atlanta Thrashers, the city was uncertain if the team would actually be called the Jets, and rumours spread that they were potentially going to be called the ‘Polar Bears.’

Last night, for the second year in a row, the Manitoba Moose were the Manitoba ‘Polar Bears’ for a game. The Jersey is a bit different from last year’s, but the proceeds from a silent auction and sold merchandise were once again donated to Winnipeg’s Assinaboine Park Zoo's Polar Bear Rescue Team.

As much as we love NHL jerseys, it’s always great to see minor leagues such as the AHL dedicate a jersey night to a certain cause. Plus, they usually turn out to be pretty cool, too.
