Despite getting knocked out the last time he stepped in the octagon for a bout, UFC middleweight fighter Luke Rockhold has made it loud and clear that he wants a shot at the title.

This past weekend at UFC 211 in Dallas, UFC president Dana White called out Rockhold during the post-event press conference and did not hold back in his response.

White on McGregor, St-Pierre and more

“There’s a lot of guys talking about ‘deserve’ — nobody deserves anything. You’ve got to earn it here. You’ve got [Luke] Rockhold screaming right now ‘I deserve this’. You just got knocked out in the first round. You’ve got to come back and earn it," said White.

"The guy just got knocked out in the first round by Michael Bisping and he thinks he deserves this and he deserves that. You earn it. You want to come back and you want to fight for the title? Get back in here and earn it. That’s it. Nobody here deserves anything. You earn it. You want the next shot at the title. You come out and you earn it. Just because you’re ranked No. 2, 3, 1, or whatever, things don’t line up that way all the time.”

On Tuesday afternoon, Rockhold decided to take to Twitter to fire some shots right back at White and the UFC.

White didn’t appreciate the fighter’s words and replied to him on Twitter, something that is very rare from the UFC president.

Rockhold has not had a fight in the UFC since UFC 199 back on June 4, 2016, when he lost to Michael Bisping, and he's itching to get back into the octagon for another chance at the title.
