LaVar Ball is still trying to become relevant in the basketball world and he might have gone too far this time.
He got things going by saying he would ‘kill’ Michael Jordan one-on-one. He then followed up that crazy prediction by calling out Charles Barkley on Twitter and challenging him to a one-on-one.
Last week, LaVar took his trash talking to another level by getting LeBron James’ son involved in his mess. Here’s what he had to say about James’ son, courtesy of 247 Sports.
“The monsters in the NBA, their dads wasn’t that good. They were OK, they was players, but the fact that the old Curry wasn’t no All-Star, he wasn’t cold. He could shoot the ball though. Kobe Bryant, his dad wasn’t all that, that’s why he’s such a monster.”
You got LeBron, it’s gonna be so hard for his kids, cause they gonna look at them like ‘you gotta be just like your dad.’ And after a while that pressure starts sitting on you like ‘why do I gotta be like him, why can’t I just be me?’ And then they’re gonna be like ‘aw, you’re soft, you’re not that good.’ Because the expectation is very, very high.”
My sons are good, they’re great,” Ball said. “But let’s say I really excelled in football and made millions of millions of dollars. Do I spent that time with them now? — No, I have to worry about the offseason and I just buy you a trainer and hope that you turn out okay. Whereas the fact that I wasn’t all that, allows me to take the time to make my boys all that.”
Not only did he make a big mistake by mentioning James’ son in one of his rants, but he’s also making it seem like he was bad on purpose during his playing days so his kids would be more successful than he ever was once they were old enough.
LeBron James is the face of the NBA and is not afraid to speak up when something is bugging him, so you can bet he fired some words at LaVar for mentioning his son. Here’s what he told ESPN on Tuesday.
"Keep my kids' name out of your mouth, keep my family out of your mouth. This is dad to dad. It's a problem now."
LaVar Ball can talk all he wants, but he just upset the wrong person. Hopefully he learns to keep his mouth shut soon, because he’s already burned enough bridges and his son hasn’t even been drafted yet.
