Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers have developed a great relationship in a very short time in Winnipeg and despite their chemistry, they’re still one of the more underrated duos in the league.
In their first season playing together, Laine and Ehlers both put up 64 points and were an absolute force when on the same line together. The line of those two and Mark Schiefele was a full goal and a half per sixty minutes more productive than any other line.
Their chemistry extends to off the ice as well, though. In the past we’ve called them the most underrated bromance in the league. They hang out pretty frequently, even being each other’s plus ones at Tobias Enstrom’s wedding in the summer. Not to mention the fact that we’re not the one that initially called them a bromance – Laine did that for us.
Well, Laine explained why they get along so well when asked about it in a recent media scrum. He had three simple reasons for their budding friendship:
“We’re both from Europe. Maybe that would be one thing. We’re both young and we like PlayStation, so we got some common things we’re in to. That’s all I can say.”
Sometimes it’s just as simple as having a buddy to play video games with.
