"We're all told at some point in time that we can no longer play the children's game, we just don't... don't know when that's gonna be. Some of us are told at eighteen, some of us are told at forty, but we're all told."
That quote is from the 2011 film "Moneyball," and while it has absolutely nothing to do with trick-or-treating, we think that it actually applies quite nicely when discussing the Halloween custom. When are you too old to go trick-or-treating? It's a question that has kept teens up at night thinking about how much candy they're missing out on, and made some parents incredibly embarrassed at the thought of their kid going door to door through the neighbourhood even though they're in high school and have to shave before the leave the house in the morning.
We don't have the answer, but Las Vegas Golden Knights defenceman Nate Schmidt does.
So if you're a 22-year-old university student with a part-time job and you're still out trick-or-treating -- don't worry about it. As long as you've got a great costume, no one can call you out on your quest to get candy that's just going to be heavily discounted the next day anyways.
Your dignity may be priceless...but that candy's free.
