Every sports fan loves the postseason because most players tend to turn it up a notch and play like they’re possessed.
After dealing with the same opponents for a minimum of four straight games and playing at the highest level, it’s only a matter of time until tempers start to flare between the two sides.
Lokomotiv and CSKA went head-to-head in the semifinals of the KHL playoffs and the series got extra aggressive by the final game of the series. Trailing 2-0 late in the second period and down 3-2 in the series, the pressure started to get to CSKA and their emotions got the best of them.
It all started after Girgori Panin nailed Max Talbot with an elbow and it ended up keeping him down on the ice for quite some time.
Panin wasn’t done there. He kept his anger streak going and slashed Brandon Kozun in the head. He received 50 penalties in minutes on the play, and ended up receiving an 8-game suspension that will carry over to next season. Aside from the suspension and penalty minutes, Panin also has to pay four fines for his actions.
Perhaps something might have ticked him off after he went headfirst through the glass after missing a body check.
