HC Kunlun Red Star became the first Chinese-based team in the KHL this season and so far it’s been a pretty successful inaugural campaign. With it being their first season in the KHL, not many people were expecting them to be very successful right off the bat, at least not a playoff caliber team. But they proved those people wrong by clinching a spot in this year’s KHL postseason.
Unfortunately for the Chinese club, their first round opponent happens to be the defending Gagarin Cup champions Metallurg Mg, who jumped out to a 3-0 series lead. Kunlun Red Star has put up a fight all series long, though, and have scored some beautiful goals along the way, including this end-to-end goal from Linus Videll.
It’s too bad the former Colorado Avalanche prospect isn’t able to do that more often, because then maybe his team wouldn’t be down in the series. However, it doesn’t matter if they’re leading or trailing in the series, that individual effort goal was pretty sweet.
Kunlun Red Star got a big 3-1 victory on Tuesday night, so they’re not done yet.
