The Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays kicked off a three-game series in Toronto on Monday night, and as expected all the spotlight was on former Jays slugger Edwin Encarnacion.
It didn’t take long for all that focus to shift, as the Jays jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the second inning and extended it to 4-0 in the following inning.
With Cleveland pressing in the top of the 6th inning with runners on the corners, Cleveland third baseman Jose Ramirez smoked a well-hit ball to deep centre field. As Jays fans held their breath because it looked like the hit was going to score a run or two, Kevin Pillar stepped up to save the day.
Once again, the man known as ‘Superman’, stepped up and saved the day for the Jays with an outstanding diving catch.
The best part about the catch was that it ended the inning and Cleveland’s threat.
