Kevin Durant knew his return to Oklahoma City for the first time as a member of the Warriors Saturday night wouldn't be a celebratory occasion as far as the fans and his former teammates were concerned.

From the minute he stepped on the floor for warmups to his on-court interview after the game, Durant was booed and ripped apart by fans.  He also got into it with a couple of his former teammates and trolled the fans, which didn't make things better.

While we understand the hate Thunder fans have for Durant, though, we don't think he deserved the hostile reaction that he got from the fans.

KD's mother Wanda agrees with that statement, too, judging by what she had to say after the game about the OKC fans, as per Ramona Shelburne of ESPN:

"The most vicious things you could say, they said about my son tonight. It's hurtful," Wanda Durant told ESPN after the Golden State Warriors' 130-114 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

"We poured our heart into this place. Not just him. Our family. This is basketball. This is not whether or not you're going to make it into heaven."

"They called him a snake, a sellout, a b---h," she said. "It's just a sad day. I understand that they loved him. I do understand it. But the name calling. The people with the cupcakes on their backs. ... It didn't have to be like this."

While Saturday night was Durant's first time back in Oklahoma City since he left, it wasn't Wanda's:

"This is not the first time I've been back since Kevin left," she said. "This is maybe my fourth or fifth time. Every time that I've been back, people seem like they are afraid to say something nice to me. People will whisper, 'There's his mom. Ooooooh!'

"There are people who tell me they still love him. But then you have the people who shot his jersey up. My son poured his heart and soul into this place for eight years, and for them to treat him like this because he decided to go someplace else to play is really tough."

It must have been extremely tough for Wanda to listen to fans that once loved her son say all of those awful things to him, but unfortunately that's what happens when superstars leave, just ask LeBron James.

We don't think it should be that way considering how much Durant gave the city on the court and off of it in his eight seasons as a member of the Thunder, but that's just how it goes.

That being said, we imagine KD will eventually be forgiven, but if that day doesn't come, his mom and his true fans will always support him no matter what.

That's why she's the real MVP.
