Phil Kessel notched a goal and an assist in Pittsburgh's 7-0 routing of the Senators in Game 5, but his best contribution came before the puck had even dropped.
Sunday, on the way to PPG Paints Arena, Penguins forward Nick Bonino ran into some pretty serious truck troubles on the highway that led to the center having to pull over to the side of the road and call for assistance. Speaking with reporters, Bonino explained what exactly went wrong with his car.
“It was weird. All of a sudden the gas didn’t work and the power steering went out in the middle of the highway. I was able to get it to the side."
So who did Bonino call in his time of need? Kessel, because that's what "great" teammates do.
“Great teammate Phil Kessel came and picked me up. I owe a lot to Phil tonight for being here, a great guy.”
Like a good good neighbour, Phil the Thrill is there. All jokes aside, you would have to point to an act like this when trying to sum up why the HBK line had such great chemistry.
