Swedish friends Erik Karlsson and Gabriel Landeskog have had the unique privilege of leading their squads against one another in Stockholm for the NHL Global Series. Ottawa managed to take game one after Karlsson helped set up a tic-tac-toe goal scored by Mark stone in overtime. In the process, the defenceman tied Filip Kuba for the franchise’s most amount of assists through the first 15 games of the season with 14.
During the series, Karlsson found himself standing beside the Avs’ captain while awaiting an offensive zone face off. The two used the opportunity to engage in some hilarious Swedish banter, which included Karlsson poking fun at himself with the perfect chirp.
Don’t be so hard on yourself EK!
Karlsson is literally the last player on earth who should be making fun of himself. The two-time Norris trophy winner recorded two more assists in game 2 and already has one goal and 16 assists through 11 games. But hey, that’s just the kind of guy he is. A true beauty.
We only ask one thing of you, Erik. You can tell yourself you stink, but don’t ever joke around about giving up hockey again.
